A new way of looking for a job
The other day I got an email from Andrei Parakhnevitch, here it is:
“I have applied your recommendations to my current situation.
Here are some results:
- focusing on the industry / sector I am experienced in (maximum 5 tailored files sent per day) – I don’t know whether you’ve heard about a student who had sent 800! CVs and couldn’t get a job before he broadcasted his case on the BFM radio;
- networking by using alumni contacts from ESCP and joining Groups on LinkedIn;
- not posting “looking for a job” on the profile;
- CV which emphasises on the competences.
Outcome after 2 weeks only :
- one phone interview 3 days ago and a potential face to face interview;
- face to face interviews scheduled in 3 weeks time;
- more then 15 HR contacts obtained from the network.
Thank you.
Andrei.”
So Andrei applied the things we have been talking about on this blog for a couple of months: Networking, networking and networking, using his alumni directory, focusing on an industry/expertise, CV based on skills and not on auto affirmative sentences (Manager with a great ability…), not looking desperate but proactive!
And by the way, he did not use any job boards or recruitment consultants!
And the result? Quite impressive!
So good luck to Andrei, and hopefully your example will influence more people.
I am trying to get all my clients in that mindset because I think this is the only long term strategy that will pay off.
So? Keep on reading this blog!
